MARCH 2024

Over the past several weeks members have been working to update one of our wild land fire pieces. Our 1976 Dodge Mini-Pumper/Brush unit is utilized primarily for wild land fire response. It can also respond on a variety of other calls such as vehicle accidents as it still carries extrication equipment and also assist with traffic control. With limited lighting before, it posed a safety risk for our responders. Over the past several years, we have also had issues with lighting and with the fire suppression pump leaking. In the past several weeks we were able to equip the unit with new emergency lighting, scene lighting, driving lights to better assist our first responder’s and a new fire suppression pump. By completing these upgrades, the department would save nearly $200,000 if we were to replace this exact unit. Projects like this is a true showing of where your support and donations with our online fundraisers, bashes and wing events go toward. The total refurbishment project was $12,000

JANUARY 2024

Over the past few months, we worked on updating lighting equipment and chainsaws on all of our apparatus. We partnered with Fastenal in Cumberland, MD and Milwaukee to purchase equipment to update the units. We successfully updated and added new lighting equipment and chainsaws to our whole fleet. We succesfully obtained a grant that assisted with offsetting the cost of the equipment. In the photo, shown to the next is a picture of some of the lighting products, battery and chainsaw that was added to our Engine-Tanker once returning from refurbishment. Additional products can be found on our Engine-Rescue, and brush units.
